You know the door. The one that used to be able to be broken by shoving it (which was definitely not allowable in a tournament). Just wondering, what's the final ruling on using this door if the opposite team's human controlled tank breaks this door down to get to the survivors and gets killed?

It happened to my team in a match, and to cover our bases we activated the crescendo and then went in the door (and therefore did not 'skip' a crescendo), but I feel as though we shouldn't have even had to hit the button- obviously we made no effort whatsoever to skip a crescendo as it was entirely an infected team player's decision to break the door.

There's also no other time at any other point in any other map I can think of where the infected making a fool mistake can cause the survivors to be able to pass a crescendo without activating it, so it's kind of unique. What's the official word?

well, the rules specifically say you cannot bypass a crescendo without activating it, so I'd imagine if a tank did this, you could activate the event and go that way, but it'd be illegal just to bypass the event. However, if a tank did break his own door down, I doubt a team would file a complaint

Well that's what we did, grapedrink- activated the crescendo and went in through the door anyway (avoiding the top of the awning and upstairs room). Like I said it's just that this is such a unique event and happens so very infrequently but when it does... we had to kind of stop the game for a few minutes while we talked about it and it would be easier if there was a specific rule on this door- a la "If an infected human tank breaks down the door to the warehouse before the crescendo on NM3 the survivor team is allowed to use the door without activating the scissor lift and starting the crescendo."

In my opinion, if they are dumb enough to break the door, they are just asking you to bypass it. It's not something that you did as an exploit, just taking advantage of your alternate route that the other team has created for you.

Yeah, I'd have to agree with FooL on this one. I just happend to realize what the op said.. "you can't bypass a crescendo without activating it"... I forgot that this is the actual rule. I had this same scenario happen to me once before. We were about to activate the crescendo when the tank spawned in the medkit room. He swung around towards the steel gate you were referring to, and broke it down to go directly for the forklift (since we were out in the open near the crescendo lift). After killing the tank, we didn't even bother to activate the crescendo since the tank broke down the steel gate. At the time, i simply thought "oh the rules say we can't break down that door.. but since the tank was the one to do it.. we'll just go through it then."

But I think in that situation u guys definitely did the right thing... activate crescendo and then go through the broken gate.
